Deciding How Much to Pay
There is truly no right or wrong when choosing an amount. Here are five perspectives that may support your decision:
Honest Look at Financials perspective
Ask yourself, “what can I actually give?” without becoming consumed by self-judgment or shame.Fair Market Value perspective:
It is common to see standard coaching rates among my peers in the range of $150-300 USD.Empathy perspective:
Before the session, my preparation is typically 1 - 2 hours and includes admin work for the assessment, reading your report, and referencing books, course notes, and online resources. After the session, I often spend 30-45 minutes in follow-up. Over the last decade, I have committed to a considerable amount of hours, energy, and training to learn about the Enneagram, and to build the courage to offer this work.Practicing Generosity perspective:
From the Buddhist tradition, the value of Generosity cultivates happiness by shifting focus from how much we have to how we live, and by deepening connection and delight in sharing.Creativity perspective:
What might you offer by way of mutual exchange, outside of money?
What skills, talents, interests, or care might you offer? E.g. a written or video testimonial, photography, admin help, a handwritten gratitude letter, ways you are “paying it forward” in your own life, etc.
“Due to our capitalist training, most people are conditioned to look for a bargain. Whether consciously or not, most people give the lowest amount they can without feeling guilty.
But the point of the gift economy is to decolonize our minds. To move away from scarcity and competition, and return ourselves to generosity and collective care.”

Potential Sliding Scale Ranges
These amounts include the $50 deposit for the assessment cost:
Pay it forward $150-175
This range is common for those who can comfortably meet basic needs (housing, healthcare, food, transportation, childcare), own a home or rent a higher-end property, have access to savings, investments and/or inherited wealth, and have reliable work or do not need to work. This rate paves the way for others. At cost $100-150
The offering is an investment, but does not create hardship, e.g. you are regularly able to meet your basic needs (housing, healthcare, food, transportation, childcare), have some expendable income, and have some debt but can pay it regularly.Reparative $75-100
This reflects the stretch to meet basic needs (housing, healthcare, food, transportation, childcare). You may have limited expendable income and limited or no savings, have significant debt, no financial safety net from family, and paying more would pose a significant hardship. This reparative rate works to redistribute healing resources due to systemic oppression.
The above ranges are not fixed rates, but loose guidelines to support your decision. Select an amount that feels easeful and generous within reach.
